On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the apparition of the Virgin Mary and the visit of the two popes Johannes-Paul II and Benedict XVI to Lourdes, the Monnaie de Paris has issued this silver coin in proof quality. The design depicts an image of the Virgin Mary, as well as the two popes John-Paul II and Benedict XVI. The three motives are separated by a cross. Also included in the design are the dates "1858-2008" and the denomination. The reverse features the sanctuary of Notre Dame of Lourdes as well as the inscriptions "LOURDES" and "150e ANNIVERSAIRE". The limited commemorative silver coin is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
