With the issue of this 10 Euro silver coin, the Monnaie de Paris honors the 50th anniversary of the new franc, which was introduced on January 1st, 1960. The new franc was known as the "Pinay franc" and was considered one of the instruments of structural economic reform in France. The motive of the coin features an olive branch and an ear of corn, as well as the inscription "cinquantième anniversaire du nouveau franc", the denomination and the dates "1960" and "2010". The reverse shows the traditional depiction of the sower in front of stylized sunbeams, as minted on the franc since 1898. The twelve stars of Europe and the year of issue are also included in the design. The limited commemorative coin in proof quality is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
