Since 2007, the Monnaie de Paris has issued coins in honour of sites and landmarks listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In 2020, the series focuses on three world-famous mountains - the third issue is Mount Fuji in Japan. It will be commemorated with a depiction of its snow-covered peak, which is shown from the Chureito Pagoda. In the foreground of the motive the pagoda, characteristic cherry blossoms and a Torii gate, which is considered the entrance to a shrine, are featured. In the lower third the mountain is reflected in the bordering lake. The inscriptions "MONT FUJI" (fr.), "富士山" (jp.) and the year of issue "2020" are also included in the design of the Euro silver coin. The reverse shows a representation of a globe and the names of some of the places which the coin series will focus on in future issues. To the left of the globe is the inscription "PATRIMONIE MONDIAL" (World Heritage); and the denomination of the coin is shown centrally. The limited commemorative coin will be delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
