Germany dedicates this 25 euro silver coin to Christmas, one of the most important feasts of Christianity. The issue features the Herrnhut Star and is characterized by its innovative shape - it is the second plate-shaped coin in the history of the Federal Republic of Germany. The motive of the coin by artist Martin Dašek from the Czech Republic depicts the Herrnhut ridge turret and the Herrnhut star. Along the top edge of the coin is the inscription "HERRNHUTER STERN". The reverse shows the federal eagle, the words "BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND", the denomination, the mint mark "A" of the mint in Berlin, the year of issue 2022 and the twelve European stars. The Herrnhut Star symbolizes the Star of Bethlehem and is considered the origin of all poinsettias. The many-pointed star, which is traditionally made of paper and cardboard, originates from the Moravian Church and was first made there about 160 years ago. It is now considered an integral part of the Christmas tradition and is firmly anchored in cultural customs throughout Germany and around the world.
