This 20 Euro commemorative commemorative silver coin in proof quality is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the "Laufmaschine". The German teacher Karl Drais (1785 - 1851) invented the Laufmaschine ("dandy horse") also later called the velocipede, draisine in the year 1817. This incorporated the two-wheeler principle that is basic to the bicycle and motorcycle and was the beginning of mechanized personal transport.
