This silver commemorative coin shows a bird sitting on a barbed wire as a symbol of violence, hope, imprisonment and freedom. The phrase "comes one from distance". The coin is dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the German-Jewish poet Nelly Sachs that was born on 10th December 1891 in Berlin. In the year 1940 she escapes from the Nazis to Sweden. She received the Nobel Prize for Literature for her extraordinary work reflecting and interpreting the fate of Israel in a touchingly powerful and honest way in 1966. On May 12, 1970 Nelly Sachs died in Stockholm.
