This silver commemorative coin is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the inventor of the advertising column, Ernst Theodor Amandus Litfaß. The print shop owner and publisher was born February 11th 1816 in Berlin. The Bookseller was editor of several pamphlets and newspapers. To stop the indiscriminate poster hanging he had the idea of the advertising columns. In the year 1854 he got the concession to establish the advertising columns. On December 27, 1874 Litfaß died in Wiesbaden.
