Alexander von Humboldt is considered one of the last universal geniuses and is still revered as the second discoverer in Latin America. The Federal Republic of Germany honors the 250th birthday of the great German explorer and scholar Alexander von Humboldt (14th September 1769 - 6th May 1859) with this 20 Euro silver coin. The coin was struck from 18 grams of silver in the German Mint of Baden-Württemberg in Stuttgart - Mintmark F. The motive was designed by the artist Carsten Theumer. It features the key quote from Alexander von Humboldt's travel diaries "Everything is interaction" which is translated into a very successful imagery.
