Germany dedicates this 10 euro silver coin to the FIS-Alpine Ski World Cup in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The competitions of the 41st Alpine World Ski Championships were held from February 7th to February 20th in 2011 on the Gudiberg and the Kandahar course. A total of 67 nations with 525 athletes participated in the sports competition. The design of the coin, struck from 18 grams of 925 silver, features a slalom ski racer in front of the high Alpspitze mountain near Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The design is surrounded by the stylized silhouette of the rooftops of the town, as well as the inscriptions "FIS-ALPINE SKI WM" and "GARMISCH-PATENKIRCHEN 2011". This year, the mint mark is not to be found in the edge lettering as usually, but has been imprinted as a secret code in the design of the jersey on the right below the skier's chin. The 10 Euro commemorative coin "FIS-Alpine Ski World Cup" in proof quality is delivered in a protective coin capsule.
