The release pays tribute to seven previously unpublished portrait depictions of the Queen, all created by the renowned sculptor Raphael Maklouf FRSA. The coin gains special historical significance through its minting date: it was struck on April 21, 2026 - precisely on the day Queen Elizabeth II would have turned 100 years old. This significant date is also immortalized as an edge inscription on the coin, making the issue a particularly symbolic homage. The design features the seven effigies by Raphael Maklouf, complemented by the royal monogram, the crown and the artist's signature. Each depiction symbolically represents a formative phase in the life and reign of the monarch - from the young Queen through decades of change to her historic legacy as the longest-reigning British monarch. The reverse shows the portrait of King Charles III, as well as a special QEII100 Privy Mark, which further emphasizes the commemorative character of the issue.

Elizabeth II was born Elizabeth Alexandra Mary of the House of Windsor in London on April 21, 1926. On February 6, 1952, she ascended the throne for the first time at the age of 25 and was crowned Queen at Westminster Abbey on June 2, 1953. She was the constitutional monarch of 16 sovereign states known as "Commonwealth Realms", including their territories and dependencies, Head of the 53-member Commonwealth of Nations and Supreme Governor of the Anglican Church of England. Queen Elizabeth II was the longest-reigning monarch to date and the first ever to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee. She passed away at the age of 96 surrounded by her closest family members at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Following her death, her son, King Charles III, succeeded her as monarch.
