The silver coin struck from one ounce of 99.9% silver commemorates one of the most mysterious events of our time - the Roswell Incident. The motive features the head of an alien in the foreground and a crashed saucer partially submerged in the sand in the background. The alien's large eyes reflect the colors of space. Around the UFO a light phenomenon in yellow, orange and turquoise green colors stretches towards the night sky. The inscription "ROSWELL - NEW MEXICO 1947" is also part of the design. The reverse shows the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the weight, fineness, denomination and year of issue.
The so-called "Roswell Incident" occurred in July 1947 and refers to the crash of an unknown flying object near the small town of Roswell in the U.S. state of New Mexico. Shortly after ranch foreman William "Mac" Brazel found and reported the debris, the U.S. Army Air Forces Base at Roswell (RAAF) issued a statement saying it was the debris of a "flying saucer." A headline to that effect, which appeared in the local newspaper on July 8, 1947, caused quite a stir. A few days later, the military retracted the report and clarified that the debris came from a weather balloon used for high-altitude wind measurements. Since then, speculation about the mysterious discovery in Roswell has not ceased. Numerous contradictions and statements, first voiced and then denied again, strengthened a group of people in their conviction that the crashed object could actually be a UFO. Thousands of people visit the city every year in the hope of discovering the truth. The limited 1 Oz silver proof coin "Roswell Incident" in color is delivered in the original box including a numbered certificate of authenticity.
