The first issue of the new DC COMICS™ Series Batmobile™ is dedicated to the 1966 Batmobile™. The coin was struck from one ounce of 99.9% silver and features a full-color image of the iconic 1966 Batmobile™. Also included in the design are the 1966 Batman™ Classic TV series logo, a colorful depiction of Batman™, and the inscription "1966 Batmobile." The legendary Batmobile™ was built for the 1966-1968 live-action Batman™ television series and its film adaptation. The custom vehicle was originally a 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car. George Barris was commissioned by 20th Century Fox Television to transform it into the famous vehicle that aided Batman™ in fighting crime with the help of numerous gadgets. The equipment of the 1966 Batmobile™ included a Bat-deflector, Bat-zooka, Bat-scope, Bat-ray projector, Bat-chutes, Bat-safety belt, as well as an anti-theft activator and an anti-fire activator. The reverse features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination and year of issue. The limited coin is presented in an acrylic case so both sides can be viewed. The Antique Finish silver coin in color is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity from the New Zealand Mint.
