The third issue of the Comix™ series is dedicated to the very first Superman™ comic. The motive in color faithfully reproduces Superman™ #1. To further enhance the visual impression of a comic book, the coin was minted in a rectangular format with the typical color scheme also paying tribute to the comic book effect. The reverse shows the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination, year of issue, weight, fineness and copyright.

The first Superman™ comic was not only the first self-titled series for Superman™, but also the first ever self-titled series for a comic book superhero. Published in 1939 by DC Comics™, the comic tells the origins of Clark Kent, as well as his journey to planet Earth, in a multipart story. This issue is one of the most expensive and most sought after comic books in the world, in April 2019 an unrestored issue was auctioned for around 456,000 US dollars. The exact market value for a copy in perfect condition is still uncertain today and is estimated by experts to be in the millions.
