The DC Comics™ silver coin was struck from 5 ounces of 99.9% silver and is dedicated to the comic Batman™ #615. The coin faithfully reproduces the comic book with its characteristic coloration. To reinforce the visual impression of a comic book, the coin was minted in a rectangular format. The reverse shows the official national coat of arms of Niue as well as the denomination, year of issue, weight, fineness and copyright.

Batman™ #615 was published in 2003 and deals with the murder of Dr. Thomas Elliot and Batman's™ attempt to solve the circumstances of his death and track down the perpetrator. He also shows his true identity to Selina Kyle™ aka Catwoman™ for the first time and reveals himself as Bruce Wayne™ after Nightwing™ encouraged him to take this step.
