The world's most famous duck celebrates its 90th birthday this year - and still enjoys lasting unbroken popularity. In honor of the anniversary of Donald Duck™ the New Zealand Mint struck this coin from 5 ounces of 99.9% silver in proof quality with the title "Number One Since 1934". The motive in color features Donald Duck™ wearing his iconic sailor cap. Also included in the design are the inscriptions "DONALD DUCK" and "Number One! Since 1934!". The reverse features the portrait of King Charles III, the year of issue "2024", the denomination "TEN DOLLARS", the weight, fineness and the copyright.

The first animated cartoon featuring the clumsy duck was broadcast in the USA on June 9, 1934. Although Donald Duck™ only had a supporting role in "The Wise Little Hen", his career took off without stopping and since then he has gained fans all over the world. Donald Duck™ is the fiancé of Daisy Duck™, the nephew of Scrooge McDuck™ and the uncle of Tick, Trick and Track.
