The Disney™ silver coin in color is dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the animated film Frozen™. The coin was struck by the New Zealand Mint from one ounce of 99.9% silver in proof quality. The film was released in November 2013 and is the 53rd animated film of Walt Disney Studios. The motive in color shows Elsa unleashing her magical powers. Her abilities to create snow and ice are represented by an ice blue gemstone. The snowy kingdom of Arendelle can be seen in the background. Also included in the design are the "FROZEN" logo and the weight and fineness of the coin. The reverse features the Public Seal of Niue as well as the denomination and year of issue.

"Frozen" is based on the fairy tale "The Snow Queen" by Hans Christian Andersen. The film tells the story of Princess Elsa, who has magical abilities to create snow and ice. Afraid of accidentally hurting her little sister Anna, Elsa flees her kingdom to live alone in a huge palace made of ice. Her sister Anna, the snowman Olaf, ice delivery man Kristoff and his reindeer Sven do everything they can to end the ice queen's isolation and save the kingdom from being taken over by the shady Hans and the Duke of Pitzbuehl. The limited mintage of only 2,013 pieces is based on the year the film was released.
