The new Disney coin series is dedicated to the Year of the Mouse. The first issue "Good Fortune" was struck by the New Zealand Mint from one ounce of 99.9% silver. The colored motive features a smiling Mickey Mouse™ handing his sweetheart Minnie Mouse™ a fortune cookie against a background of Chinese iconography. The engraved image was taken from the Good Fortune scroll in Disney's™ "Happy Year of the Mouse" artwork collection. The reverse of the coin depicts the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination and the year of issue. The mouse is the first of 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac calendar. The limited Disney™ Year of the Mouse silver coin is delivered in the original Disney™ packaging including a certificate of authenticity from the New Zealand Mint.
