The New Zealand Mint has issued the silver coin in color on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Disney™ Pixar™ - Monsters, Inc.™. The coin was struck from one ounce of 99.9% silver in proof quality and features the three main characters of the animated hit movie, which premiered on November 2, 2001 - the two monsters James P. Sullivan and Mike Wazowski and the human child "Boo". In the background, other monsters are dimly hinted at. The inscription "DISNEY PIXAR MONSTERS INC" is also included in the design. The reverse features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination and year of issue. "Monsters, Inc." is among the most successful fully computer-animated films ever produced. The film is about creepy monsters whose job it is to scare children. With the help of the resulting screams, the energy production of Monstropolis is to be secured.
