The series "Harry Potter™ - Magical Creatures" from the New Zealand Mint is dedicated to the magnificent creatures from the magical world of Harry Potter™. The rectangular coin was struck from one ounce of 99.9% silver in proof quality and features the Werewolf’s fearsome presence. The background is red-purple and shows clouds and a full moon. As a special three red zirconia stones are set into the coin. The reverse shows the official Niue coat of arms as well as the year of issue “2025” and the denomination "TWO DOLLARS".

When the full moon rises, Lycanthropes would transform into a wolf-like creature, losing all human sense of right or wrong. This transformation is uncontrollable and can be dangerous for the werewolf itself as well as for people around it. A well-known werewolf in the Harry Potter series is Remus Lupin. He is portrayed as a warm-hearted and intelligent wizard who leads a fulfilling life despite his lycanthropy. The rectangular silver coin is delivered in the original box of the New Zealand Mint including a numbered certificate of authenticity.
