The new series "Harry Potter™ - Magical Creatures" from the New Zealand Mint is dedicated to the magnificent creatures from the magical world of Harry Potter™. The rectangular coin was struck from one ounce of 99.9% silver in proof quality and features a depiction of the majestic phoenix named Fawkes. Symbolic of the fire creature, the background was colored in bright red tones. Above the iconic bird, three orange zirconia stones are incorporated. The reverse depicts the Public Seal of Niue as well as the year of issue "2023" and the denomination "TWO DOLLARS".

The phoenix is one of the most famous magical creatures in the world of Harry Potter™ and is a symbol of renewal, immortality and rebirth. He is attributed with several magical powers, including the ability to heal injuries and wounds through tears. Harry first meets Fawkes in Dumbledore's office. He is not only a faithful companion of the Headmaster of Hogwarts™, but also an occasional assistant of the Order of the Phoenix™. Namely, the scarlet bird possessed the ability to disappear without a trace in one place and reappear in another, without physical or magical barriers. This allowed him to quickly pass on information and assist members of the Order in dangerous situations. The rectangular silver coin is delivered in the original box of the New Zealand Mint including a numbered certificate of authenticity.
