The Harry Potter™ series from the New Zealand Mint is dedicated to the Harry Potter characters and their Patronus. The rectangular coin was struck from one ounce of 99.9% silver in proof quality and features a depiction of Ron Weasley™ with his Patronus, a Jack Russell, as first mentioned in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix". The reverse depicts the Portrait of King Charles III, as well as the year of issue "2024" and the denomination "TWO DOLLARS".
The Patronus spell is an advanced magical defense technique that uses positive memories and emotions to create a protective energy form. Patroni are often used against Dementors, dark creatures that absorb happiness and the joy of life. Ron Weasley's Patronus, a dog, symbolizes loyalty, faithfulness, fighting spirit and intelligence. The Jack Russell stands for Ron's very pronounced loyalty, but also shows how important his friends are to him. The patronus also reveals hidden parts of its summoner - in the case of the usually very chaotic Ron, these parts are courage, sociability, cheerfulness and familiarity. The rectangular silver coin is delivered in the original box of the New Zealand Mint including a numbered certificate of authenticity.
