To celebrate the Year of the Rabbit, the New Zealand Mint has issued this officially licensed silver coin in color. Struck from one ounce of 99.9% silver in proof quality, the motive features a colorful depiction of Bugs Bunny™ in traditional Chinese holiday New Year attire. To the left is the embellished calendar year "2023". Engraved in the background are different images of Bugs Bunny™ and Lola Bunny™. The weight, fineness and copyright are also included in the design. The reverse features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination and year of issue.

Bugs Bunny is among the most famous members of the Looney Tunes™ and made his first appearance in an animated film released in 1940 titled "A Wild Hare." Bugs is an anthropomorphic gray rabbit known for his relaxed and passive nature. He is often portrayed in the cartoons as a mischievous rogue, who is almost never seen without a carrot in his hand. Not only the cartoon character, but also everyone born under the sign of the Rabbit is considered talented and ambitious. According to the Chinese zodiac calendar, the sociable Rabbit is characterized in particular by its patience and good nature. The limited mintage of only 2,023 pieces refers to the Year of the Rabbit in 2023. The Bugs Bunny™ Lunar silver coin is delivered in the original box including a numbered certificate of authenticity.
