With this issue of the series "Art of the 100th" the New Zealand Mint celebrates the 100th anniversary of Warner Brothers Studios. The coin was struck from an impressive 5 ounces of 99.9% silver and is dedicated to the film drama The Shawshank Redemption, which was released in 1994. "The Shawshank Redemption" is based on the novella "Spring Awakening: Pin-up" by Stephen King and was cast with Hollywood greats such as Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins. In terms of content, the multiple award-winning film deals with the friendship between Andy Dufresne, who is sentenced to life in prison, and his fellow inmate Red, as well as the polarity of fear and hope.

The motive of the rectangular coin features numerous inmates as well as birds symbolizing freedom. The inscription "FEAR CAN HOLD YOU PRISONER. HOPE CAN SET YOU FREE" is also included in the design. The reverse shows the "WB 100" logo as well as the seal of Niue, the denomination, the year of issue and the individual numbering of the coin. In honor of the anniversary, the mintage of the rectangular 5 oz silver proof coin is limited to only 100 pieces worldwide. The coin is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity from the New Zealand Mint.
