The third issue of the "Spider-Man™ Villains" series is dedicated to the antagonist Sandman™. Struck by the New Zealand Mint from one ounce of 99.9% silver, the colored motive of the rectangular coin features a battle scene between Spider-Man™ and his opponent, the Sandman™, into whose body the superhero partially sinks due to the sandy consistency. The Sandman™ was first introduced in 1963 in "The Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 4". The weight and fineness of the coin as well as the copyright are also included in the design. The reverse shows the effigy of King Charles III as well as the denomination "2 DOLLARS" and the year of issue "2024".

Sandman™, whose real name is William Baker™ alias Flint Marko™, was irradiated by the explosion of a nuclear reactor when he sought refuge on a military base after breaking out of prison. The effects of the radiation drastically changed his body - from then on he was able to turn completely into sand, form any weapon from his arm and even take the shape of a sand tornado.
