The officially licensed silver coin is dedicated to one of the most famous villains in movie history - Darth Vader™. Known from the STAR WARS™ films, the former Jedi Knight is one of the most important main characters in the franchise. Struck by the New Zealand Mint from three ounces of 99.9% silver in proof quality, the motive of the coin is partially finished in color. In the foreground, the Sith Lord™ is depicted in a fighting stance with his deadly lightsaber. To the left is his distinctive silhouette, engraved with his name. The background features various colored depictions of Darth Vader™. The reverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the year of issue "2022" and the denomination "TEN DOLLARS".

As young Anakin Skywalker, he initially was the student of the Jedi knight Obi-Wan Kenobi. He was educated to be a Jedi knight before turning to the dark side of the force and taking on the identity of Darth Vader™. In a fire, he suffered severe burns and was almost killed. Darth Sidious found him, and as part of a life-saving operation, he was given the black armor, which included the mask with distinctive breath sounds and cybernetic limbs.
