The second release in the new Series 'Fairy Tales' of the Lituanian Mint was struck from one ounce of 99,9 % silver and is dedicated to the childhood fairy tale "The Princess and the Pea". The motive features the young princess in pajamas in color. She sits with a thoughtful expression on a stack of mattresses in her bedroom. Tucked between the lower mattresses is a green gemstone, symbolic for the green pea in the fairy tale. The reverse depicts the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, the denomination and year of issue. "The Princess and the Pea" tells a story about a young girl whose royal identity is to be established in a very clever way. To test her sensitivity, a pea is hidden under her mattress. The message behind the tale is not to always choose the easiest solution in life and to avoid drawing quick and hasty conclusions. To further capture the idea of the fairy tale, the packaging was designed with tiny peas.
