The new Tiffany Art Series - Metropolis is dedicated to the most famous urban landscapes. The second issue focuses on Rom, the capital of Italy, and in particular on the St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican. The coin was struck from five ounces of 99.9% silver in Black Proof quality and Ultra High Relief and is limited to only 555 pieces worldwide. The motive features the imposing facade of the cathedral, including the famous dome with its cross extending into the edge of the coin. In addition, two selected windows are incorporated in the design, that are represented by red Tiffany glass. They stand out clearly from the rest of the eminent structure. The inscription "SAN PIETRO IN VATICANO" completes the motive. The reverse features a look inside the basilica. Depicted is Bernini's world-famous divine baldachin under the central dome and above the tomb of St. Peter. On the lower edge of the coin, the building plan of the entire cathedral has been incorporated in a luminous red Tiffany glass. The design is framed by the half-open Filarete portal, one of five entrance doors at the front of St. Peter's Basilica. Also included are the official national emblem of Palau and the denomination "25 DOLLARS".
