This strictly limited set includes the fourth issue of the new Big Five III Series - Leopard from the South African Mint and a rare special edition of the 2026 Krugerrand with a Privy Mark "Leopard". South Africa is justifiably proud of its extraordinary wildlife. The animals known as "Big Five" - Elephant - Lion - Buffalo - Rhino - Leopard - are landmarks and ambassadors of this culturally rich country and represent the African fauna.

The Big Five silver coin features a full-body depiction of an adult leopard standing on a rock in an alert posture. The inscriptions “SOUTH AFRICA”, “BIG FIVE 2026” and the South African coat of arms are also part of the design. The reverse shows two halves of a leopard's head. Placing two of these coins next to each other gives a full close-up portrait of a leopard. When several of these coins are placed next to each other, an entire pack of leopards appears. In the center are the denomination “FIVE RAND”, the weight “1OZ” and the fineness “Ag 999”. A special highlight is the delicate engraving of an African fruit chafer (Pachnoda sinuata). This beetle is found throughout South Africa and draws attention to the importance of an integrated ecology. It feeds on flowers and fruits, while many insect-eating bird species prey on the larvae of the garden fruit chafer.

The leopard (Panthera pardus) ranks among the most graceful and powerful big cats in the world, alongside the lion, tiger, and jaguar. With its lithe appearance, distinctive coat pattern, and impressive muscular strength, it embodies both elegance and power. As an exceptionally adaptable survivor, the leopard inhabits a wide range of environments. It is equally at home in the dense forests of Africa as well as in mountainous regions, vast savannas, and arid semi-desert landscapes. Thanks to its intelligent hunting techniques, it is considered one of the most successful predators among the big cats.

The second coin in this set features the classic Krugerrand design and a Privy Mark with a leopard. Like all Krugerrand coins the reverse shows the portrait of South Africas first President Paul Kruger. This exclusive special edition is limited to only 1,000 sets worldwide and is delivered in the original wooden box including a numbered certificate of authenticity from the South African Mint.
