The legendary rivals, Tom - the cat and Jerry - the mouse were created in 1940 by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. Until now the popularity of the animation was such that they had appeared in around 164 short films and won seven Oscars. The motive of the silver coin in proof quality features a classic imagery of Tom & Jerry™. Also in the design included are the Tom & Jerry™ logo, the inscription "80 YEARS" and the traditional mintmark "P" of the Perth Mint.
