To mark the 25th anniversary of SpongeBob SquarePants™, the Perth Mint has issued this silver coin in color. Struck from one ounce of 99.99% pure silver in proof quality, the design features a depiction of the iconic deep-sea sponge together with his friends™. Spongebob™, Patrick™, Thaddeus™, Mr. Krabs™, Sandy™, Plankton™ and the house snail Gary™ can be seen in the foreground, while the scenery of the underwater world unfolds in the background. Also included in the design is the inscription “SPONGEBOB 25”. The reverse features the Jody Clark portrait of King Charles III as well as the weight, fineness, face value and year of issue.

The animated series SpongeBob SquarePants™ was first broadcast in 1998 and has been very popular with audiences ever since. The stories take place almost exclusively in the fictional town of Bikini Bottom™, where SpongeBob SquarePants™ lives in a pineapple. The episodes deal with banal topics, but the series is characterized by the fact that everyday situations are depicted in an exaggerated and often bizarre way.
