The 2023 Lunar Animals coin was struck from 5 ounces of 99.99% pure silver. The mintage is limited to only 488 pieces worldwide. The design of the rimless coin features the 12 animals from the Chinese zodiac in color as well as representations of the earthly or heavenly habitats of the individual animals in the background. The 12 signs of the zodiac outline a bagua in the center, a motive that contains eight Taoist trigrams meant to represent the yin and yang in all things. The reverse of the coin features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, supplemented with the years of her reign, as well as the weight, fineness, denomination and year of issue.
