This rimless coin from the Chinese Mythical Creatures series was struck by the Perth Mint from five ounces of 99.99% pure silver. The colorful motive features a dragon and a phoenix. According to Chinese mythology, the dragon is considered a divine creature and a powerful symbol of power, wealth and luck. The phoenix is an immortal bird that appears in times of peace and prosperity. The joint appearance of the dragon and phoenix symbolizes the complementary properties of Yin and Yang and is considered particularly auspicious. The design also includes stylized clouds, a flaming pearl and a peony - further omens of peace, happiness and wealth. The reverse shows the effigy of King Charles III as well as weight, fineness, denomination and year of issue. Through the Antique Finish each coin is given an individual appearance.
