Struck by the Perth Mint from two ounces of 99.99% pure silver, the antique finish silver coin is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Rubik's® Cube. The coin features a rotating Rubik's® Cube and additionally depicts the official 50th anniversary logo, various colorized images of the cube, the words "TWIST, TURN, SOLVE" and the mintmark "P" of the Perth Mint. The reverse shows the portrait of King Charles III as well as the weight, the fineness, the denomination, the year of issue and the country of issue. All coins have been individually plated with an antique finish, so the appearance of each coin may vary slightly.
The Rubik's® Cube is a world-famous puzzle invented by Erno Rubik in 1974. Each side of a Rubik's® Cube consists of nine colored squares, which are initially arranged so that each side has a uniform color - yellow, white, blue, green, orange or red. An internal rotating mechanism is used to move the 54 colored squares and return them to their original arrangement. The cube caused a worldwide sensation. Particularly ambitious puzzle enthusiasts studied techniques and strategies to solve the Rubik's ® Cube as quickly and efficiently as possible. The world record for solving a 3x3 cube is a remarkable 3.13 seconds.
