The coin was struck 2018 by the Perth Mint from 5 ounces 99,99% pure silver in proof quality and detailed high relief. The coin design shows a koala sitting on two branches of a flowering eucalyptus tree. The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions 'Eliszabeth II', '8 Dollars' and 'Australia' are depicted on the coin’s obverse.
