The illustrated springbok on this proof quality coin of 1/4 ounce gold was created by South African sculptor Coert Steynberg (1905-1982) in the years 1946 and 1947. The Natura series commenced in 1994 and has over the years depicted South African wildlife animals. On this Jubilee year of the Krugerrand, South Africa celebrates numismatic history on the 2017 Natura coin series by featuring the springbok designs.
