Mirror Rat is the fifth coin of the Mirror Lunar series from Tokelau, which started with the year of the monkey in 2016. This was followed in 2017 by the year of the rooster, 2018 the year of the dog and 2019 the year of the pig. The issue celebrates the year of the rat, which starts on February 4, 2020. The mintage is strictly limited to only 500 pieces worldwide. The coin was struck from one ounce of 99.9% silver in proof quality and has an impressive diameter of 65 mm. The motive features a classic image of a rat curiously looking at a reflection of itself. For the design of the mirror image different surface types are used. On one half is the polished relief of a rat on a matte background. On the other half, the rat's dim reflection is seen on a shiny background. People born in the year of the rat are considered to be friendly and extremely sympathetic. The strictly limited silver coin is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
