The silver coin is commemorating the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the throne. Struck from one ounce of 99.9% silver in proof quality, the design features a depiction of King George VI in the background and his daughter - Queen Elizabeth II - in the foreground. The words "H. M. QUEEN ELIZABETH II - 1952 ACCESSION" run along the upper edge of the coin. The reverse features the Jody Clark effigy as well as the denomination, the year of issue and the fineness. On 6 February 1952, at the age of 25, she ascended the throne for the first time and was crowned Queen on 2 June 1953 at Westminster Abbey. The ceremony, with the exception of the anointing and communion, was televised for the first time. Since then, Elizabeth II has been the constitutional monarch of 16 sovereign states known as "Commonwealth Realms", including their territories and dependent areas. She is also head of the Commonwealth of Nations, which comprises 53 states, and secular head of the Anglican Church of England. Queen Elizabeth II is the longest reigning monarch to date. Limited to 1,952 pieces worldwide, this silver proof coin commemorating the accession to the throne in 1952 is delivered in the original box including a numbered certificate of authenticity.
