Australia Zoo - Ravi (2.)
1 Oz Silver - Frosted Uncirculated
- Mintage only 3,000 Coins struck
- 2nd Issue of the Australia Zoo Series
- In original Blistercard of the Royal Australian Mint
Ravi the Red Panda is the second release in the Australia Zoo Series. Ravi the Red Panda is a worthy successor to Archie the Alpine Dingo featured on the Australian Zoo Series 2017 coin.
Under the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List, Red Pandas are a Critically Endangered species. Red Pandas are considered to be living fossils, with genetic research identifying them as the only living member of the family Ailuridae - their closest relatives lived three to four million years ago. Ravi the Red Panda epitomizes Australia Zoo’s efforts to protect endangered animals. Dedicated to the Red Panda, the Royal Australian Mint struck a strictly limited commemorative silver coin - with a mini mintage of only 3,000 coins - in the classic 1 Ounce format.
The silver coin comes in the original blister card of the Royal Australian Mint. The motive of the "Red Panda" was produced by the Australian Mint in the quality "Frosted Uncirculated". The elaborate minting technique makes the motive of the cute panda look very detailed and realistic while also underlining the exclusivity of this unique special edition.
