The third Wildlife of Nicaragua silver coin depicts a giant anteater (Myrmecophaga tridactyla) in color. He is the largest representative of the anteaters and native to South and Central America. Ants and termites are his principal food, which the toothless giant anteater licks with his long tongue. The giant anteater can be found on the grounds of grasslands and rainforests. Due to the increasing destruction of its habitats and ist hunting, the existence of the Great Anteater is considered endangered. The coin of one ounce of silver was struck in 2018 by the Central Bank of Nicaragua and shows the giant anteater in its natural habitat. The silver coin is presented in a wooden box with Nicaraguan coat of arms on the lid. The original packaging was designed thematically to match the wildlife theme. The enclosed certificate is written in English and Spanish.
