The second issue of the new "Apex Predators" series is titled Cougar & Bear and features a powerful bear entangled in a fight with a cougar. The cougar stands on the branch of a tree, while the bear seems to attack from the ground. They are surrounded by leaves and branches of the tree, showing their sharp claws and bared teeth. On the reverse is the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The denomination, weight and fineness of the coin are also included in the design. Grizzly bears and cougars are known to be solitary animals and have very similar diets. They often have to share a habitat on the North American continent, which leads to competition for food, resources and territory. The mintage of the partially gold-plated coin struck from 5 ounces of 99.9% silver is limited to only 500 pieces worldwide.
