A golden success story - The Krugerrand is a timeless symbol of South Africa's distinctive heritage and the world's best-known and most successful gold coin. The legendary coin from South Africa was first struck in 1967. Celebrating its now 50th Anniversary in 2017, this Krugerrand coin was minted by the South African Mint from impressive 50 ounces of gold in proof quality. The obverse features the profile of Paul Kruger, South Africa's president from 1882-1902, while the reverse depicts the legendary "Springbok," the distinctive identifying motive of every Krugerrand. It has an impressive diameter of 100 mm and also included in the design is a Jubilee Privy Mark "50 Years Anniversary 1967-2017". The very small mintage of only 50 coins worldwide gives this special edition its particular exclusivity. It is delivered in the original box of the South African Mint including a numbered certificate of authenticity.
