Mirror Rabbit is the eighth coin in the Mirror Lunar series from Tokelau, which started with the Year of the Monkey in 2016. This was followed by the Year of the Rooster, Year of the Dog, Year of the Pig, Year of the Rat, Year of the Ox and Year of the Tiger. This edition celebrates the Year of the Rabbit, which starts on February 22nd, 2023. The coin was struck from one ounce of 99.9% silver in proof quality and has a remarkable diameter of 65 mm. The motive shows a belittled image of a rabbit with a flower in its mouth, looking at a mirror reflection of itself. Different types of surface are used to depict the mirror image - one half of the motive shows the polished relief of a rabbit on a matte background, the other half shows the matte mirror image of the rabbit on a shiny background. Characteristics such as modesty, friendliness and easy-going are attributed to the rabbit. People born in the year of the Rabbit are considered to be very communicative and eloquent.
