An intricate sculpture of a grey wolf (Canis lupus) emerges from the flat surface of this coin to give it a multi-dimensional look and feel. The gold plating enhances the carefully sculptured details that give the statuette a life-like quality, including the varying texture of the fur and the famously strong jaw that is lifted towards the sky to release that iconic howl. The reverse was designed by Canadian big game sculptor Karl Lansing, your coin represents a sculptural celebration of a Canadian icon. The coin's large 65 mm diameter provides the perfect pedestal for the gold-plated silver wolf-shaped embellishment emerging from the coin! Despite its unusual shape, the coin is safely protected inside a dome-like capsule that protects it from the elements. It is encapsulated and housed in a wooden display case with a black beauty box. Wolf is the fifth and final coin in the series „Sculpture‘s of Majestic Canadian Animals“, which depicts animals in a uniquely multi-dimensional approach.
