In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Space Jam™, the New Zealand Mint has issued this officially licensed silver proof coin. The film was released on November 15, 1996 and is a mix of animation and fantasy. The motive features five Looney Tunes™, each holding a basketball in their hands. In the center is the Space Jam™ 25th anniversary logo. The Looney Tunes depicted are Bugs Bunny™, Lola Bunny™, Daffy Duck™, Sylvester™ and the Tasmanian Devil Taz™. The reverse of the coin corresponds to the look of a basketball and also shows the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. In the film, Bugs Bunny and Co. are threatened by aliens who want to abduct the Looney Tunes and offer them as an attraction on their planet. Only winning a basketball game can save the charming cartoon characters from this fate - they get support from basketball star Michael Jordan and actor Bill Murray, who each portray themselves in the film.
