Mongolia 2016 - Chinggis Khaan

  • Only 1,000 coins worldwide
  • Ultra High Relief
  • SeQrySign®
  • smartminting®

The latest coins in honour of Chinggis Khaan, who led the Mongolians to a united empire from 1206 to 1227, combine classic design with state-of-the-art technology. The 2016 edition of the silver coin is a new release of the collector’s piece which was introduced and sold out in 2014. The partially coloured relief was a numismatic highlight back then. The new issue is a technical masterpiece because smartminting® has enabled a relief which is twice as high as the previous coin.

The name “Chinggis Khaan“ means ruler of the world in the Mongolian language. Chinggis Khaan, born Temujin, was truly the ruler of an immense empire. He was a Mongol Khaan, in English “leader“, who conquered vast parts of Central Asia and northern China. Accredited with the union of many nomadic tribes, he was granted the title of «Great Khan» and therefore became the sole ruler of all Mongolians. His reign lasted from 1206 to 1227. In this era, he began the Mongol invasions and the conquest of other areas stretching to the Sea of Japan in the East and the Caspian Sea in the west.

smartminting® is a revolutionary technology in the field of modern numismatics. It allows unprecedented dimensions of high reliefs and sets new standards in the commemorative coin industry.

  • considerably larger diameter on standard weight coins while maintaining relief height
  • standard relief height on coins with greatly reduced weight
  • extraordinarily high relief on coins with slightly increased weight
