This 5 Euro collector's coin is the fifth and final issue of the series "Climate Zones of the Earth" and is dedicated to the "Polar Zone". The series started in 2017 and till 2021 one issue per year was published. The motive of the 2021 edition designed by the artist Natalie Tekampe depicts a typical landscape of the polar zone from a submarine perspective. In the center of the design is a diving sea leopard to been seen, as well as a floating iceberg. The giant iceberg shows only its tip, the true size can only be discovered underwater. The motive is surrounded by a translucent, violet polymer ring and the inscription "SUBPOLARE ZONE". The color of the polymer ring is different in each year of issue and depends on the climatic conditions of the individual climatic zones. The reverse, which is the same for all coins in the series, was designed by the artist Stefanie Radtke from Leipzig. It features the federal eagle and the inscriptions "BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND", the denomination and the year 2021. The twelve stars of Europe and the respective mintmark complete the design. The plain edge of the coin contains the inscription: "KLIMAZONEN DER ERDE". The set contains all five coins with the different mintmarks A-D-F-G-J from the mints in Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart, Karlsruhe and Hamburg. The 5 x 5 Euro coin set "Polar Zone" in proof quality is delivered in the original packaging.
