Gold has always had a special effect on its viewers and numerous symbolic meanings. No other precious metal is so loaded with meaning. Since time immemorial, gold has had a special effect on those who behold it. The popular series of the Austrian Mint "Magic of Gold" goes in search of the mysterious significance of gold in the advanced civilizations - to Mesopotamia and into Ancient Egypt, to the Incas, to the Scythians, to India and China. The Magic of Gold series traces the mysterious nature of gold in Ancient cultures. No other metal has as much symbolic meaning as gold and no other concrete substance has been linked with so many abstract concepts. The word ‘gold’ is written on each coin in the series in the respective script of the epoch and culture represented on it. All the coins are a reflection of ancient art treasures. What was made of gold in the past still is gold today. The fourth issue is dedicated to the Gold of the Scythians and thus travels back 2,500 years to a time when the nomads roamed the Eurasian steppes. The coin depicts a Scythian horseman galloping into the motive from the right. The design is surrounded by two ornamental bands, which represent typical symbols from the culture of the nomads. Among others, a cauldron, a plow and an axe are depicted. The denomination, country of issue and year of issue are also part of the design. The reverse of the coin features a golden artwork, probably from later Scythian period, depicting animals locked in combat. This fascinating Euro gold coin is delivered in the original box from the Austrian mint, including a certificate of authenticity.
