This unique dome shaped coin is the fourth issue in the new Lunar Series by the Royal Australian Mint and was struck from one ounce of 99,9% silver. The silver coin is dedicated to the Year of the Rabbit in 2023 and is limited to only 7,500 pieces worldwide. The motive features a rabbit surrounded by plantain lilies. The plants are symbolic for joy, harmony and innocence and emphasize the qualities associated with the rabbit. In addition, the inscription "YEAR OF THE RABBIT", the Chinese character for "rabbit" and the weight and fineness are engraved. The reverse shows the Jody Clark portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination and the year of issue.

The Rabbit is the fourth of twelve signs in the Chinese Zodiac calendar, following the Year of the Tiger in 2022. According to the legend, the moon goddess Chang'e has a rabbit as a pet, which has always been a symbol of cheerfulness and happiness. It is also believed that the rabbit is the incarnation of the Moon Goddess herself. Those born under the sign of the Rabbit in the years 2023, 2011, 1999, 1987, 1975, 1963 and in every 12th year before are considered to be talented and ambitious. The Rabbit is popular everywhere and a good companion, distinguished especially by its patience and good nature. Rabbits are known for their sense of art and often make the right decisions based on their instincts. Despite their popularity, they shy away from change and are often insecure and rather pessimistic. The limited dome shaped silver proof coin Year of the Rabbit 2023 is delivered in the original box from the Royal Australian Mint including a numbered certificate of authenticity.
