The seven-coin series "The Language of Flowers" of the Austrian Mint is dedicated to the flowers of the world and their meanings in history, language and mythology. The third release is dedicated to the Marigold - in the language of flowers, they represent optimism and serenity. The motive of the uncirculated silver coin features several blooming marigolds, consisting of three flowers and several leaves. In the background, a stylized pattern of marigold flowers is running across the coin. The special authenticity of this coin comes from the fact that the motive was minted with the help of an imprint of a real marigold. The reverse shows a young woman whose face is framed by hair adorned with flowers. With closed eyes, she enjoys the scent of a marigold flower. Around her flutter several butterflies. The image is surrounded by the inscriptions "10 EURO", "2022" and "REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH".

The marigold (Calendula officinalis) is not only a popular plant for bouquets and flower arrangements, but also a versatile plant species used in medicine. Its flowers contain active ingredients that can have anti-inflammatory, antiviral and antiseptic effects. Extracts of marigold flowers are often processed in ointments, creams, lotions, oils and tinctures and effectively help treat many ailments.
