This "Black and Gold" silver coin of the Royal Canadian Mint is dedicated to the Grey Wolf. The coin was struck from one ounce of 99.99% pure silver and plated with yellow gold and rhodium. The motive features a high-contrast depiction of two wolves, which with the help of the different color scheme depict the yin-and-yang symbol ("Taijitu"). The symbol traditionally stands for the idea that everything has an opposite and thus only the wholeness can arise. In connection with the wolf, reference is made to the ambivalent perception of this animal: Feared by mankind and mostly portrayed as the villain in fairy tales, its role is extremely important for the balance within the ecosystem. The reverse, which has also been yellow gold plated, features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination and year of issue. The Black and Gold - Grey Wolf Coin is limited to only 4,500 pieces worldwide and is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
